BVC Logistics appoints industry veteran Bobby Joseph as President - HR

India-based domestic secure logistics enterprise, BVC Logistics, has appointed Bobby Joseph as President - HR, who continues to be based in Mumbai for this role. He comes with 25 years of experience in HR, and was previously Director - HR in an HR consulting firm. He has also tenured with Larsen & Toubro, Transworld Group, BJN Hotels, Writer Corporation, and Brinks.

Uday Chinai, Chairman of BVC Logistics, said: "We want to provide the next 10,000 BVCites with the best working experience of their career and in our journey, HR is the enabler of business. Bobby’s knowledge and experience in the HR and talent acquisition industry will lead us forward in achieving our vision."

In this role, he anticipates the HR division will be moving out from its conventional transactional role and play a more strategic partner to the business through people analytics, AI and other interventions, to realise the dream of being a 'preferred employer of choice'.

Sandeep Mookharjea joins AIG in senior HR capacity

In his latest milestone, Sandeep Mookharjea has joined insurance provider AIG in August as Head of HR for Asia Pacific based in Singapore. Here, he partners with the Asia Pacific CEO to drive AIG’s people strategy, and build the regional organisational structure; and has regional HR leadership responsibility across the region’s 14 markets.

On his appointment, he told Human Resources Online: "My immediate priority is to work on the talent and culture agenda to ensure AIG achieves its ambition of becoming the leading general insurer across Asia Pacific and a place where everyone wants to work."

His strengths lie in the areas of organisation restructuring, business partnership, change management, and HR offshoring. After having started his career in 1998 with Johnson & Johnson as a Management Trainee in HR, Sandeep Mookharjea has worked his way up the ranks since. He moved to Standard Chartered in 2000 and since then grew to be MD and Head of HR for the Risk Function globally, based in Singapore.

Hailing from Kolkata, Sandeep is Singaporean by nationality, having spent the last 13 years in markets like Bangladesh and Singapore.

Save the Children International engages Camilla Cole in talent and learning role

Camilla Cole has been elevated to a new role with independent, non-profit organisation Save the Children International — she is now Director of Talent and Learning, based in London, having joined the organisation in August 2016 as Head of Leadership Development. Prior to her tenure with the present company, Cole has worked with United Technologies and AXA.

National Geographic Society names Mara Dell as CHRO

Global nonprofit organisation, National Geographic Society, has appointed Mara Dell to the newly-created role of Chief Human Resources Officer, effective 9 September, 2019. She will lead all aspects of talent and culture strategy; and oversee the day-to-day operational needs of all HR functions, including talent acquisition, diversity and inclusion, employee relations, and more.

"National Geographic Society employees are a critical force for change, helping to achieve our mission to illuminate and protect the wonder of the world. It is why we took great care to find an experienced HR leader with a strong background of building high-talent teams and cultivating a culture of performance—qualities we found in Mara,” said Michael Ulica, EVP and Chief Operating and Financial Officer at the National Geographic Society.

Dell, based in Washington, joins the Society with 20 years of experience leading global HR functions, having most recently served as Chief People Officer at Conservation International, overseeing more than 1,000 employees in 30 countries. She began her career at National Geographic as a production assistant in the audiovisual department.

She said: "I am immensely honoured to return to the National Geographic family for the same reason I was first inspired to join the team almost 30 years ago: The Society’s strong legacy of science, exploration and storytelling is a testament to its talented, innovative and passionate team."

HR solutions provider appointments

Space Matrix announces strategic new hires in Singapore.

Singapore-headquartered workplace design and build consultancy, Space Matrix, has made two senior hires to its leadership team – Roger Clement as its Managing Director, Singapore and Su-San Tan as its Director of Workplace Strategy and Insights.

Roger brings over 17 years of experience in project management and building consultancy. At Space Matrix, he will work closely with the leadership team and the firm’s clients to address challenges in current workplace designs and develop for immersive workspaces to meet clients' evolving needs.

Meanwhile, Su-San leads the thought leadership efforts in workplace strategy. She works directly with the leadership team, advising companies on navigating the future of work and how to improve their businesses through purpose-driven workplace strategies. She will also collaborate closely with the design teams to ensure client brief requirements are integrated into the design and user experience.

Speaking on the appointments, Arsh Chaudhry, CEO, Space Matrix said: "Their expert knowledge, valuable experiences and global exposure to the design, construction and project management industries makes them valuable assets to the team and more importantly to our clients."

Aju Murjani takes up next-level role at IBM

Having been with cloud platform and cognitive solutions provider, IBM since September 2018 as SaaS/PaaS Executive, AP, Aju Murjani has taken up a new role as IBM Cloud Platform Executive, AP. In this role, he is leading GTM efforts with 190+ cloud platform services and offerings to deliver on business transformation across industries, as well as driving day-to-day business management while striving for operational excellence.

On his agenda is also to lead sellers to achieve revenue and consumption targets, build a strong and active business network within the IBM ecosystem, and drive cross-team collaboration.

Speaking to Human Resources Online, he shared: "In the era of various transformation journeys, the focus is for 2020 will be to build upon working with our expansive ecosystems of talent, customers, and partners; understand where they are as part of their journey, and how best we can help them with the relevant outcomes with IBM's Good Tech (and more)!"

Murjani has helmed a number of senior leadership roles prior to his tenure with IBM, having been MD - Cloud Platform and BPO Services at Excelity Global, and Managing Partner - ASEAN, SpinifexIT, among other significant tenues.

PayScale hires former Concur executive Scott Torrey as new CEO

Cloud-based compensation software and data provider, PayScale, Inc., has announced that Scott Torrey (pictured) will take on the role of CEO in a planned succession from CEO Mike Metzger (who has led the company as CEO for the last 15 years), effective August 26, 2019.

"I’m proud of what our team has built and the forward-thinking compensation approach we’ve enabled for thousands of businesses and millions of employees," said Metzger of the transition. "At this stage, I’m pleased to hand the reins to Scott who shares PayScale’s cultural values and has proven skills in scaling a highly successful SaaS company to billions of dollars in revenue."

Torrey, a Seattle native, is a former 20-year senior executive with SAP/Concur. He said: "I'm thrilled to assume the CEO role of a market-leading company, well positioned for significant growth in an area important to all employees and the organisations that employ them."

In May of this year, Francisco Partners invested in PayScale with a strategy to expand the company’s lead in the compensation market. "We’re delighted to welcome Scott to the PayScale team and are excited for the future of PayScale," said Adam Solomon, Principal at Francisco Partners.
