Shipping Logistics Bringing In Technological Revolutions In India

In recent times, India has been trying to evolve out of the conventional methodologies it was so used to, for ages. That also extends into the domain of logistics. With the digital era already here, India has been shifting toward technology-centric methodologies and practices, which have emerged as a need of the hour. The Pandemic, too, has only pushed the country to adopt technology more and emerge as a digital nation.

Bhavik Chinai, Group Ceo, BVC has been making significant strides in this regard with the firms he’s been coming up with. Beginning one’s entrepreneurial journey before one’s even turned an adult is no common feat. And yet, Chinai started on this journey at the mere age of 17, when he set up his first ed-tech firm. This was based on giving free exam notes to thousands of students across the countries. The firm did well, before making a shift to the arena of conscious smoking.

“Eventually, I shifted to building one of India’s largest luxury vaping enterprises, Vama Vapor with a mission to help smokers live longer,” adds Chinai. The shift from ed-tech to vaping had also emerged as a phenomenal achievement. The firm sold thousands of units across 20 countries before researchers in the USA came out with reports suggesting that vaping was not healthy.

“That is when, I shifted my business to building the world’s first integrated logistics platform Vamaship, which is running profitably today,” explains Chinai while emphasizing on the inception of Vamaship. This platform enables shippers to ship via air, ocean, and surface, all through one technology platform. Chinai says, “It was a zero to one journey. So, for the first time in the world, we were executing 3 offline businesses through one technological platform”. He added how all the typical zero to one challenges had been faced by him and the firm. This included getting the technology adopted, making customer centric services in it, amongst others.

Eventually, he took on the reins of his family run business BVC Logistics, which is India’s largest secure logistics player specializing in logistics of precious jewellery, bullion and diamonds.

Emphasising on the scope of opportunities in the logistics industry, he said, “Whether it is B2B or B2C, whether it is the retail side or manufacturing side, whether it is in the international side or India, there is a lot of scope for India and has a very strong government support for growing exponentially.”

He explained how overtime, with all the unique solutions that BVC has rolled out has helped it become the largest player of its kind in the country.
