Labs & Hallmarking Logistics — Daily Milk Run, Same-Day Return

We run a fixed daily route built around your selling day. Our team collects pieces from your store or factory in the morning, delivers them to the gem lab or BIS hallmarking centre, and brings the certified or hallmarked goods back to you — typically the same day for hallmarking and on the agreed turnaround for lab certification. Because the route runs every working day, you do not have to arrange a one-off pickup each time; the lab and hallmarking leg simply becomes part of your normal daily flow.

For BIS hallmarking, where the centre completes the marking on the same day, we offer same-day return on our milk-run route so your pieces are back on the counter without losing a selling day. Where a piece genuinely needs longer at the centre, we return it on the next available run and keep you updated on its status. We plan the route timings with you so the morning pickup and the evening return line up with your shop hours.

A standard BIS hallmarking cycle is around three days, and gem-lab certification depends on the lab and the type of report requested. During festive and wedding peaks we work with you to compress the loop — for example moving to twice-daily runs or priority handling — so a three-day cycle can be cut to two when demand cannot wait. We will be honest about what is realistic for each centre rather than promise timings the lab cannot meet.

Every consignment moves under documented chain of custody — pieces are counted, recorded and sealed at pickup, carried by trained, vetted personnel in secure containers, and reconciled again on return. You receive a clear handover record at each leg so the count that leaves your store is the count that comes back. Security is the whole point of using BVC for the lab-and-hallmarking leg rather than sending pieces informally.

You can opt for comprehensive All Risk cover with BVC, protecting your pieces for their full declared value from pickup, through transit to the lab or hallmarking centre, and back to your store. We recommend All Risk cover for every movement of high-value goods, though you are also free to move under your own jeweller's block policy. Either way our team will confirm the cover and declared values with you before the run so there is no ambiguity if anything ever needs to be claimed.

The status of your consignment is updated at every touchpoint — pickup from your store, hand-in at the lab or hallmarking centre, collection of the finished goods, and final return — and our coordination team is reachable for any update you need on a specific batch. We focus on confirmed, checkpoint-based status rather than a constant live map, so what you receive is a reliable record of where your pieces are in the cycle and what happens next.
