A private collector had purchased a large raw marble sculpture worth ₹3 crore. The piece weighed 2,000 kg and needed to be transported to their home and installed in a specific location — without damage, without incident.
This is not a job for a regular moving company. Marble at this scale is heavy enough to be dangerous and fragile enough to crack under the wrong conditions. Step One
Before Anyone Touches It — Survey First
The first thing BVC does with any fine art project is a proper survey. Not a quick look — a real, detailed assessment of the art piece, where it's coming from, and where it needs to go.
For this marble sculpture, that meant understanding the weight distribution, how the piece was structured, whether it had any existing weak points, and what the home's floors and doorways could handle.
A 2,000 kg marble piece doesn't forgive shortcuts. If you don't survey properly, you find out the hard way — and "the hard way" with raw marble worth ₹3 crore is not a situation anyone wants to be in.
Only after the survey was complete did BVC start planning the packing method, the transport, and the installation approach.
Step Two
Wrapped in Layer After Layer of Protection
Raw marble is heavy, hard, and — despite how it looks — surprisingly fragile at its edges and fine details. A single knock during transport can chip, crack, or shatter a piece that took months to create.
BVC used multiple layers of protective packing, each one doing a specific job. The goal was simple: no matter what happens on the road, the sculpture arrives exactly as it left.
Each layer was chosen based on the piece's material, its shape, and the specific risks during transport to a private home rather than a warehouse or gallery.

With the client and artist’s approval, restoration specialists carried out the required work so the sculpture could move ahead safely for final positioning and inspection.
Arrival Inspection And Final Installation
Upon arrival an inspection was carried out. The sculpture’s installation was then coordinated with designer and structural engineers to place it correctly in its final position at the client's home.

Survey at Origin, Destination, and of the Art
BVC surveyed the sculpture (dimensions, weight, material, condition), the pickup point, the access routes, and the client's home — including lift capacity, corridor widths, and the exact installation area.
Packing Method Finalised
Based on the survey findings, BVC's team selected the right layers of protection for this specific piece. Soft packaging was applied first, followed by additional reinforcement layers suited to a 2,000 kg marble sculpture.
Pickup And Secure Loading
The sculpture was carefully handled at origin, packed in layers, and loaded for movement using the required team and equipment.
Condition Noticed Before Final Placement
During pre-installation inspection, the team identified a natural 5–6 mm gap at the base of the sculpture along with a break condition. The work was paused and the client was informed immediately.
Restoration Carried Out by Experts — BVC Coordinated
With the client's approval, BVC coordinated with specialist restoration experts who examined and treated the piece. BVC ensured this was handled swiftly and properly, so the project could continue without unnecessary delay.
Arrival Inspection at Site
The sculpture arrived at the client's home and was inspected before final positioning. The team prepared the installation area and confirmed all structural requirements with the client's architect.
Final Installation Completed
Once the restoration was confirmed complete and stable, BVC's team installed the sculpture in its final position — levelled, secured, and signed off by the client.
