Why This Movement Is Different

A Piece May Look Nearly Ready, But A Semi-Finished Jewellery Can Still Delay The Full Order

Electroplating, finishing, polishing, and quality check usually happen near the end of jewellery production. At this stage, pieces already carry time, labour, and value. They may only need one more process before they are ready for packing, sale, or delivery.

Semi-finished jewellery has not yet been hallmarked, which means it does not carry a HUID — the unique identification code that BIS assigns to each finished, hallmarked piece. Without a HUID, pieces cannot be moved between cities in a compliant way. This is why the entire production flow for semi-finished jewellery stays within the same city, moving between specialist units for plating, finishing, and quality check before the piece is finally ready for hallmarking.

Within a city like Mumbai or Surat, this movement happens frequently and across multiple handovers. Each step in the process depends on the previous one being done correctly and on time. If a shipment is delayed, the final order is delayed. If the wrong packet reaches the wrong workshop, finishing work stops. If there is no clear record, time is lost figuring out where pieces are, whether they have cleared each stage, and who last had them.

Every handover in this chain carries real risk — a missed pickup, a mixed-up packet, or an unrecorded delivery can slow down the entire finishing process and push back the hallmarking date. For businesses working on tight timelines and bulk orders, even a small gap in the movement chain can cause bigger problems down the line.

BVC helps jewellery businesses manage this within-city movement of semi-finished pieces — between plating units, finishing workshops, and quality check stations — with reliable pickup, secure handling, and clear records at every handover, so that every piece moves forward on time and nothing gets lost in between.

The last few stages of jewellery work are often the most time-sensitive. A delay here can hold up everything after it.

Who This Serves

Built For Businesses Handling The Final Stages Of Jewellery Work

BVC supports different finishing and checking teams across India. The pieces may be at different stages, but the need stays the same: move them safely, clearly, and on time.

Business Type 01

Electroplating Units

Teams that receive jewellery for plating and return it for the next stage of work.

Example: A plating unit receiving jewellery from a maker and sending it onward for finishing.

Business Type 02

Finishing And Polishing Teams

Teams working on the final look, feel, and surface finish of jewellery before the next check or dispatch step.

Example: A polishing team receiving plated pieces and returning them after finishing work.

Business Type 03

Quality Check And Approval Teams

Teams that inspect jewellery before it moves to packing, stock, retail, or delivery.

Example: A quality check unit receiving finished pieces and sending approved items back for packing.

Approach Comparison

What Goes Wrong With Ordinary Delivery — And What BVC Changes

Pieces moving through final-stage work need more care than a normal parcel service. The packet may look small, but the finished order may depend on it.

Final-Stage Pieces Are Treated Like Routine Packets

Common Problem

The shipment is near the end of production, but it still gets treated like a basic parcel.

BVC Way

We treat plating, finishing, and quality check shipments as important business movement with real-time tracking and clear proof of delivery.

Wrong Packet Reaches The Wrong Team

Common Problem

The shipment arrives, but the details do not match what the receiver expected.

BVC Way

We provide clear shipment records (both physical and digital) so the business can better understand what moved and where it reached.

Final Delivery Date Gets Delayed

Common Problem

The delivery is treated like a standard parcel even when the final order depends on it.

BVC Way

We plan movement around business need and final-stage timing, not just a standard delivery slot.

Many Specialist Teams Are Involved

Common Problem

Pieces move between plating, finishing, polishing, quality check, and packing as separate deliveries. Visibility becomes weak.

BVC Way

We support multi-point movement under one clearer plan so the business sees a more controlled flow.

Weak Proof Of Receipt

Common Problem

Later, it becomes hard to show when the pieces were sent, who received them, and when they reached the next step.

BVC Way

Clear delivery records help create a stronger movement trail for final-stage jewellery work.

How It Works

How Jewellery Pieces Move Through The Final Stages Of Work

This section answers a simple question: how do jewellery pieces move safely through plating, finishing, polishing, and quality check?

Every shipment has a reason behind it. A piece may be going to plating, polishing, finishing, or quality check. That means timing matters.

We plan pickup and delivery around when the next team needs the pieces, so final-stage work can keep moving.

India Angle And Regulatory Context

The Paperwork That Must Travel With Every Shipment

From electroplating to final quality checks, jewellery pieces move through many different cities and business points. That makes clear movement and proper records very important.

GST Invoice — Carried On Every Movement

A self-attested copy of the GST e-Invoice must accompany every consignment of gold and silver jewellery, irrespective of the type of movement. Checkpoint officers rely on this document to verify the sender's tax identity before any other paperwork is examined. BVC attaches this to every consignment file by default.

Branch Transfer (Intra-State) — Delivery Challan

For branch-to-branch movement of jewellery within the same state, a Delivery Challan under Rule 55 of the CGST Rules 2017 is the correct document — not a tax invoice, because no supply has taken place. The challan must carry the reason (“branch transfer”), the value, and the identifiers of both branches.

Delivery Challan

A Delivery Challan under Rule 55 of the CGST Rules 2017 travels with every high value shipment, without exception. It records what is physically leaving the premises, its value, and where it is going — irrespective of whether a sale is happening, whether it is an internal transfer, or whether the piece is going for repair. Customer generates this challan at the point of dispatch for every single shipment.

Branch Transfer (Inter-State) — For Stock Transfer Memo (Delivery Challan)

When jewellery is moved between branches across state lines, GST treats it as a taxable supply. A GST Invoice for Stock Transfer under Rule 46 of the CGST Rules 2017 is mandatory, and IGST applies even though no external sale has occurred. BVC structures these inter-state branch transfers with the invoice, the e-way bill, and the matching insurance declaration as one packet.

No Sale Declaration Of Goods — For Marketing Trips And Exhibitions

A No Sale Declaration of Goods accompanies every jewellery shipment to formally state that the movement itself is not a sale transaction. This protects the jeweller from the consignment being mistaken for an undeclared taxable supply at a checkpoint, and it clarifies the intent of the movement for any officer inspecting the goods in transit. BVC attaches this declaration by default to every consignment file.

E-Way Bill — Triggered By Value & Distance Thresholds

On top of the baseline paperwork, an E-Way Bill is required for inter-state jewellery movement above the prescribed threshold, and for intra-state movement in states that have notified e-way bill requirements for precious metals under CGST Rule 138F. BVC tracks which states have notified this requirement and generates the e-way bill wherever applicable.

HSN Code — Mandatory On Every Invoice & Delivery Challan

The correct HSN code must appear on every GST invoice and every delivery challan that moves with a jewellery consignment. Gold jewellery, silver jewellery, coins, bars and studded pieces each have their own HSN classification, and the code dictates the applicable GST rate and the audit treatment of the consignment. A missing or incorrect HSN is one of the most common reasons a jewellery shipment is held up at a checkpoint or flagged in a post-audit review.
